Dr Azad Moopen is the Chairman of Dr Moopens Group & DM Healthcare Private Limited.

Dr Moopen commenced his journey in healthcare 22 years back in the Middle East. He started his first clinic in Dubai in 1987 with only two doctors and now owns a chain of 70 clinics and pharmacies across GCC countries, the 60-bed Medcare Hospital, Dubai and the 20-bed Al Rafa Hospital for Maternity and Surgery, Dubai.

His strong determination and vision to become the number one in the Asian subcontinent and the Middle East, led him and his team to this great journey towards quality healthcare for all.

As the say goes “Good things come to those who shall wait” Dr Azad within him with the ignited passion waited with a slow and steady growth in the beginning, and laid out the biggest growth plans for the group in the year 2008.

Realizing India and the Middle East had recently emerged as favourite destinations for healthcare investment. Dr Azad realized the potential, responded to these emerging markets, & rolled out a five-year roadmap for investing Rs.1,500 Crore in India and the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries. The MedCity in Kerala, an array of Greenfield projects, acquisitions across India and constructing 10 hospitals and 50 clinics and pharmacies in the GCC countries.

The MedCity is the first of-its-kind in Kerala and his long kept dream, is spread over 30 acres with a built-up area of 2.5 million square feet. The MedCity shall have a 500-bed tertiary care hospital, which will act as a hub and provide all central services. It would be surrounded by around 10 smaller hospitals of 100 to 200 beds for individual specialties. The project, which is expected to generate 15,000 jobs for doctors, nurses and paramedical staff after completion, and is expected to start within six months, with the first phase of 500 beds ready by 2010.

To consolidate the group’s presence in GCC, ambitious plans have also been chalked out for the region. The plan is to have hospitals in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah (UAE), in Muscat and Sohar (Oman), in Riyadh, Jeddah and Daman (Saudi Arabia) and one each in Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
With enough financial resources supported by a great team to work towards his dream, Dr Moopen was driving towards the doorsill of his dreams, that of accessibility to quality healthcare for all.

Wilson T J is the Group Director of Dr Moopens Group

One of the chief architects of Dr Moopens Group’s multi-year growth strategy, performance, Mr. Wilson left no stone unturned with his strong commitment and passion fuelled by the ignited Dr. Moopen, together led from the front a great team of highly qualified Doctors, Technical professionals, Managers generating returns and finding sustainable ways to give back to communities the company serves.

He with his diverse experience, key knowledge in Human resources management kept attracting, and retaining the most talented with the group. In keeping with this growth strategy, he was instrumental in centralizing the activities of group. His ability to nurture talents reaped greater results with staffs finding a unique bonding with the group. Realizing the strength of any group lies in the employees, he initialized and developed the HR activities for the group and led with strategic financial plans for the steady growth generating robust financial returns.

Prior to becoming Director of the group, Mr. Wilson served as General Manager Finance and Administration beginning in 2003. In this position, he was responsible for Dr.Moopen’s Group, finance, strategy, business process optimization, corporate platforms and innovation, procurement, investor relations and information technology. He started with the group as the Financial Controller in the year 1998.

Before joining Dr.Moopen’s Group in 1998, Mr. Wilson spent seven years as the General Manager Finance at “KOYENCO Group”, a leading Industrial house in Kerala, India. He played a major role in the diversification of the Group and led the processes in achieving national level accreditations and awards

Mr. Wilson started his professional career with the Indian giant “PARLE” (Since owned by Coca Cola) in Bombay. He gained tremendous skills and experience from working in this MNC on FMCG products and environment

Mr. Wilson holds B.Com from the University of Calicut, India and ACA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is also an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, since 1989.He is married to a Doctor and has a daughter.
